Live Ballet Performance

Inspired by the 1994 live-action animated film 'The Pagemaster', Turning the Page 

depicts the story of a lonely young girl, Ricki, who after being tormented by bullies 

escapes for solace in the public library. She finds herself in a world where books 

come to life and lead her through a series of precarious adventures! In the end, 

Ricki must gather her courage and stand up to her tormentors using the knowledge 

she has gained on her journey.

  • All students, staff, and parents enter studio through Main entrance
  • All students, staff, and parents are to use automatic hand sanitizer when entering building
  • Masks are to be worn by all in lobby, hallways, and class viewing areas
  • Social Distancing is to take place in lobby, hallways, and class viewing areas
  • All dance instructors will wear masks during class
  • Students must wear masks to class but may remove them during class with parental approval
  • Students must bring dance bag and water bottle into class
  • Water bottles may be refilled at water fountains but no one may drink from water fountains

We’re so excited to start our 36th dance season serving the greater St. Joseph area. The Dance Arts Center has grown into one of the most recognized names in our community known for our outstanding staff, organization, creative productions and age-appropriate costuming. DAC offers over 80 classes for children and adults: 

  • Ballet 
  • Tap
  • Pointe
  • Jazz
  • Contemporary
  • Musical Theater
  • Tumbling
  • Hip Hop 

We also have specialty classes like Leaps & Turns, Strength & Stretch and Yoga. Our 4 studios are designed and constructed for dance and include a waiting room and observation window. We’re especially proud of our Beyond Dance Program allowing dancers with special needs to participate in dance classes and perform in our annual recital.
Adult instructors teach all classes and are eager to share their knowledge and expertise. Benefits students receive include proper technique, poise, concentration, time management, problem solving and confidence.

Monday July 27, 2020

Online 2020 – 2021 Class Registration begins!


Classes begin Tuesday, September 8th!


Classes are NOT in Session:

      • Labor Day: September 7

      • Thanksgiving: November 25 – 29

      • Winter Break: December 21 – January 3

      • Spring Break: March 20 – 26 (classes can be made up during this week)


October 7: Receive a 5% discount if costume fees are paid in full.


November 11: Costume fees payment is due in full. A $15.00 late fee per costume will be added for

any costume not paid by November 11 to cover

extra shipping costs.


Safer Studio

The Dance Arts Center follows the 'More Than Just Great Dancing Safer Studio Guidelines' which prioritize a hierarchy of safety and wellness measures:

  • Wellness checks for staff
  • Frequent hand hygiene
  • Enhanced cleaning procedures
  • Minimizing mixing and mingling via social distancing practices
  • Curricular/facility adjustments
  • Continuous parent communications
  • Hand sanitizer will be used by anyone entering and exiting the building
  • We will continue to disinfect between all of our classes with a deep clean at the end of each day.

2021 Recital

Recital Dates 

The Dance Arts Center annual recital will be held June 11 – 13, 2021. Students showcase their talents at our annual recital. Our Senior Showcase will be June 11. Family, friends, and the public will see all of our dance curriculum. Our dancers shine at the recital.

 

Recital Rehearsal Fee 

A $15.00 per dancer rehearsal fee is due with your costume payment. This fee helps off-set rental, insurance, and staff costs at the Missouri Theater during the weeks prior to our concert.

 

Recital Rehearsals 

Staging rehearsals are held at The Missouri Theater beginning Monday, May 31.


Dress Rehearsals

Monday, June 5 – Friday, June 11 at The Missouri Theater. Dancers are required to attend dress rehearsals.
