Dance Studio Policies

Students are expected to attend all of their classes and make up those they miss. Please notify the office when a student will be absent from class. An absence may be made up any time within the current semester either in the same level or a lower level.  Students unable to participate physically in class are encouraged to observe since observing can reinforce the learning process. Tardy students may be asked to observe class. The Dance Arts Center, LLC reserves the right, after consultation with a parent, to suspend or dismiss, with no tuition refund, any student whose attitude, attendance or conduct is deemed unsatisfactory or dangerous to self or others.

In case of inclement weather, please check our news page, your email, twitter or call the office at 816-233-5442 and a recorded message will state if there are classes.

Tuition is based on a 36 week session. A $15.00 registration fee per student (not to exceed $45.00 per family) and a tuition payment is required to secure class placement.  Payments can be made annually with a 5% discount, in 3 payments, or monthly.  A 5% discount is given when tuition is paid in cash.  For your convenience, payments can be automatically debited from a debit card or credit card on the 1st of each month. The automatic payment option is set up by logging into your child's account through the parent portal.  Online payments can be made anytime by logging into your child's account.  Monthly payments are due the first of each month.  A $15.00 late fee will be applied to any payments made after the 10th of the month.  A $25 service fee will be charged for any returned check.  There will not be a reduction in tuition due to missed classes. Missed classes should be made up.  No refunds will be given for tuition after the session has started.

Level Advancement

Students do not automatically advance to the next level each year. Although students may have mastered certain steps or combinations, our goal is to ensure the technique and strength used in performing these steps is mastered before the student progresses to the next level. Correct technique is critical to ensure the student is strong enough to meet the demands of the next level of the curriculum. Additionally, regular attendance in classes will have an impact on a student’s progression to the next level.

Annual Concert

The studio stages a performance each June to showcase the students of all classes.  It gives the parents and the public an opportunity to observe the total curriculum.  Each dance is given the opportunity to perform in two different shows. There will be a staging rehearsal prior to dress rehearsal.  It is mandatory that dancers are at dress rehearsal. Parents must also be present for the staging and dress rehearsals, important and last minute information is given out at both of these rehearsals. Students are strongly encouraged, but not required, to participate in this event as an important part of their dance education and development.

Concert Fees

Costume fees are determined by the class level that your child is enrolled in.  The total cost follows:

  • All combo classes -$65.00
  • Pre-Ballet, Pre- Tap, and classes beginning through level 2 - $65.00
  • Levels 3 and up -$75.00
  • All Hip Hop, Musical Theater, Contemporary and Pointe costumes - $75.00

These fees include all pieces for the costume (tights, head piece, and any other accessories required. Costume fees are per class and must be paid in by the first week of December.  Costumes are ordered in December to ensure delivery by dress rehearsal weekend.  A costume will not be ordered until fees are paid in full. Fees may be broken up and paid in monthly installments from September - December. A rehearsal fee of $15.00 per dancer is due with your costume payment. The rehearsal fee helps to offset the costs of renting the theater for a several weeks prior to our performance. Additional insurance and staff are also necessary during this time.

Beginning pointe, tumbling classes and our spring combo classes do NOT perform in our annual recital.
