MUSICAL THEATER (spelled “theatre” in England and “theater” in the USA) is a form of theater combining music, songs, dance, and spoken dialogue distinguished by the use of popular music. Typically “when the emotion becomes too strong for speech, you sing; when it becomes too strong for song, you dance.” Dance in the context of story-telling in theater will be explored with an emphasis on the performance persona.

  • Students will wear leotard and tights. Bring Jazz shoes. Hair will be worn securely off the face and neck.
